"2nd Lt. Bennett" in Silverlight
Terralever (an Arizona company) built Zero Gravity in Silverlight (using C#). It is a pretty coo lil’ game. Simple user animations/movements+a cool concept = a fun game. :-)
Check it out for yourself:

Read more about it from Tim Heuer’s point of view: http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2007/06/26/zerogravity.aspx.

WindowsClient.net
One thing I like about ASP.NET is the site www.asp.net. It has a ton of resources and a pretty nice forum. Enter WindowsClient.net. It has the same structure as www.asp.net so I’m sure it will be just as useful.
If you’re working with winforms or WPF, check it out.
Enjoy.

Migrating from CF to ASP.NET
There is an interesting discussion on CF-Talk right now and during the convo I fell upon this article about Migrating from CF to ASP.NET. You can read about migrating from other languages as well.

ASP.NET SUCKS!!!!
LIES…ALL LIES! Whoever started this lie is…err…a liar. :-)
Ok…KM is wrapping up an ASP.NET site and I did a lot of medium-heavy lifting on this one so I could learn more about it. I was guided initially but then came into full swing and ended up working on a lot of the site, which was a great experience. By stepping into the front line and actually getting dirty, I was able to realize several things about ASP.NET (2 specifically) development. I’ll list a few here and will try not to be long winded. :-)

Gardens Point Ruby.NET Compiler
“We are pleased to announce the preliminary Beta release of the Gardens Point Ruby.NET compiler. Note: this is not just a Ruby/.NET bridge, nor a Ruby Interpreter implemented on .NET, but a true .NET compiler. The compiler can be used to statically compile a Ruby source file into a verifiable .NET v2.0 assembly or it can be used to directly execute a Ruby source file (compile, load and execute). Our implementation is not yet fully complete, but it is the only Ruby compiler that we know of for either the .NET or JVM platforms that is able to pass all 871 tests in the samples/test.rb installation test suite of Ruby 1.8.2.”

Toying with Expression
I couldn’t resist downloading Expression last night and toying around. I will admit, I’M COMPLETELY LOST! :-) Me being a code geek didn’t lend to well to the IDE’s. I wanted to code but each IDE I downloaded (Interactive Designer and Graphics Designer) both seemed to be only for the graphical side of things.
I tried thinking back to Mix ‘06 for whatever I could remember about thw workflow but all I found was…I was missing a step. LOL. I know Visual Studio can be used to create (code) WPF apps, which is my desire, but I wanted to look into the other IDE’s and more-specifically, XAML.

FreeCell built in WPF
Microsoft is starting to make some of the new development technology for Windows Vista available to programmers through Community Technology Preview (CTP) releases. To start introducing this technology to you (and have a little fun with it myself), I decided to recreate the game FreeCell using the January CTP and Visual Studio 2005 Express. In this article, I will try and describe my experiences on this brief one-day journey and how much fun it turned out to be!
Coding4Fun: Designing FreeCell using Expression and Visual Studio Toolsets
This article is a pretty interesting read about using WPF to build the popular, in my mind, FreeCell game. He wasn't set out to rebuild FreeCell but actually "wanted to understand the workflow in designing an application in collaboration with a developer."
Check it out. I'll be posting some more great things I see about WPF and/or .Net 3.0.

LLBLGEN: Sweet Code Generation
At Desert Code Camp, Paul Schroeder did a preso on LLBLGEN and the demo of the app it generates and abilities seems to be the best code generator I’ve seen. The best part is the relational support. It will read your entire database, grab the relations, and create all of your DAL code (data access layer) and package it up nice and pretty. :-) This removes a ton of the repetitive grunt work involved in creating database driven apps.
The preso description can be found here.
LLBLGEN can be found here.

Great .Net Resource(s)
I’ve been directed to asp.net several times to check some things out but I never went through the site thoroughly. There are some really great asp.net controls, sample projects, links to downloads, and other great assets. Check it out.

First ASP.Net Site
This is the first post in the .Net category for this blog. I created this category since C# doesn’t quite cover the spectrum of .Net in terms of all it can do. So, this category will be for .Net specifc and C# will be for C#.
With that said, I created my first ASP.Net site today. I did it just to toy around and test some of the stuff I’ve seen (at Mix) and read in my book(s)/online. There are several things that were kind of odd to me but in the grand scheme of things…WOW. Let me list likes and dislikes.
