JSEclipse
I found this today on Adobe Labs. I’m installing it now so I’ll blog again when I get some experience with it. This may come in handy when building my Vista gadget.
“JSEclipse is a new plugin for the Eclipse environment that helps developers code JavaScript faster and with no errors. With JSEclipse, you can complete a variety of tasks, from editing small sections of code to working with the next big AJAX library or developing plug-ins for a product that embeds JavaScript snippets.”

Adobe Photoshop CS 3 Beta...PUBLIC
That’s right. Adobe has done the unthinkable. ;-) PS CS 3 is being released on labs tomorrow! SHAWWWEEEEEET! Tell everyone to go download it at noon tomorrow. That way there is bandwidth still available for me to download around 10. :-) Nah, they usually put things on labs in the middle of the night so it may be there late, late, late tonight.
“Packed with new features, Photoshop CS3 beta also includes a pre-release version of a major upgrade to Adobe Bridge, as well as a preview release of the all-new Adobe Device Central. Photoshop customers can use Adobe Device Central to design, preview, and test compelling mobile content, created specifically for smaller screens. This new tool, integrated in the Photoshop CS3 beta, simplifies and accelerates the creation of mobile content through a preview environment and built-in device profiles.”
Read more here and on 12/15/2006 (tomorrow) download it here.

WPF/E CTP is Available...Here's My Take
First off…download from here.
Install the ActiveX control and you can get started looking at the examples. Note: downloading an msi/exe is not going to be acceptable to compete with Flash’s autoinstall.
Other than the no-autoinstall, I looked over the examples and have nothing bad to say. For a first shot at this market AND for a CTP release, cudos Microsoft. I didn’t expect to see a page flip effect, hover thumbnails, VIDEO (!!!!!!), etc. I’m impressed.
Of course I had to geek out a bit and look through the code. It seems you have to use a fair amount of Javascript BUT knowing Visual Studio/Expression tools most of that code is probably written for you. One of these days I’m going to dig into the tools and code to try an example. Speaking with Cody today about WPF/E, he feels the ease of development will be the key and I agree. The examples look really nice but that means nothing if it takes 2 weeks to build in WPF/E what would take 2 days in Flash/Flex. This is where I am interested in seeing what happens on the dev’ front.
For now, peep the samples for yourself. Hopefully more samples, tutorials, etc come out so we can all see exactly how WPF/E will likely do in the RIA market.
