Inspiron 9400 ROCKS!

That’s right. I am rockin’ a Dell Inspiron 9400 and…well…it is actually rockin’ me! I’m loving this thing. This laptop allows me to work just as efficiently as I do on my desktop (Dell GX240; bought in 2001 but still rockin’). The specs are comparable but better on the 9400 though. The best part is using Vista (RC2) and getting to see Aero (the glass theme that comes with Vista). It is soooooo nice. Alt+Tab has live thumbnail previews of the application. Seriously…it is a live thumbnail. I had a client site open that has a Flash animation and in Alt+Tab it actually showed the animation running. Windows Key+Tab is the infamous Flip3d which is amazing. It has a live preview as well. Enough about Vista. Back to the lappy.

Folks that have seen my old laptop (Toshiba Sattelite) know that I terribly needed an upgrade. Don’t get me wrong, that old puppy held it down. It was good if I did one or two things on it but when I tried to go to town and rock code it had some performance issues. Dreamweaver, Flex Builder, Visual Studio, Flash (the IDE), etc are “heavy” applications (especially VS). I could only have one open at a time and sometimes I needed multiple open. The other issue was space. It had a relatively small HD which I never bothered upgrading. The RAM was maxed at 385 MB. :-) That’s right, maxed at 385. :-D So, enough bashing on the Toshiba. What are the specs to the 9400? (ignore the formatting; this was exported by the system)

OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Ultimate

I think that is everything you need to know. :-) Anyone running multiple, heavy processes at the same time and want a quality laptop should DEFINITELY look into the Dell Inspiron 9400. I’m sitting at 1920×1200 on my resolution and loving it. Dell considers this a desktop replacement and I agree. For me it is complimentary vs a replacement but it is great either way.

BTW, Tia has a new laptop as well. She didn’t give the specs or anything but she blogged about it on our personal blog. Her laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1505 w/ Windows Media Center (plus Remot that she loves). It is a sweet system as well and very fitting for her needs. She loves it.

Well…time to get some things done.
