Details on IE 7 CSS Changes

For all of you who wonder what IE 7 brings to the table, read more here.

The best part: “We are already planning for the next IE release and will continue down the road of improving our CSS support.”

:-) Keep it coming Microsoft!

Fox Fantasy

This is sweet. :-) I thought I’d checkout 2Advanced and see what they launched lately. Well, they did a mascot building flash app for Fox that is pretty sweet.

Check it out here.

Give Atlas a name...

Add your feedback here. Microsoft is listening to your comments and wants help in naming Atlas. Atlas is a code-name but I honestly think it should stay as Atlas. It is a good name and is getting a lot of play. Kind of like Apollo with Adobe (not related to Atlas; it is something completely different).

ASP.NET SUCKS!!!!

LIES…ALL LIES! Whoever started this lie is…err…a liar. :-)

Ok…KM is wrapping up an ASP.NET site and I did a lot of medium-heavy lifting on this one so I could learn more about it. I was guided initially but then came into full swing and ended up working on a lot of the site, which was a great experience. By stepping into the front line and actually getting dirty, I was able to realize several things about ASP.NET (2 specifically) development. I’ll list a few here and will try not to be long winded. :-)

BRB

I know I’ve been missing in action but I’ll be back soon. Katapult has hit a small growth spurt (13 active projects right now; not including internal apps which would bring it around 17 or 18) and it is taking up a lot of my time. We’re hiring a project manager in the upcoming week(s) so things will get back to normal soon.

So…bare with me. BRB

:-)

Gardens Point Ruby.NET Compiler

“We are pleased to announce the preliminary Beta release of the Gardens Point Ruby.NET compiler. Note: this is not just a Ruby/.NET bridge, nor a Ruby Interpreter implemented on .NET, but a true .NET compiler. The compiler can be used to statically compile a Ruby source file into a verifiable .NET v2.0 assembly or it can be used to directly execute a Ruby source file (compile, load and execute). Our implementation is not yet fully complete, but it is the only Ruby compiler that we know of for either the .NET or JVM platforms that is able to pass all 871 tests in the samples/test.rb installation test suite of Ruby 1.8.2.”

Check it out here.

Where is the UI heading? Desktop 2.0?

I didn’t realize until sitting in the NET User Group meeting that not everyone is used to having phat UI’s. Katapult focuses on UI’s, web or software, because 1) I am aethestically driven, to an extent, 2) because we can. Now, #2 may sound odd but I didn’t realize it until the meeting. Let’s dive in and see why.

IIS 7 will be great!

I am watching How Developers can Extend IIS 7 on Channel 9 and it is pretty interesting. IIS will definitely make ground in the market with IIS 7. It makes moves where IIS 6 didn’t and allows much more support for developers.

I’ll highlight a few of the areas that peaked my interest.
