Windows Vista Beta 2 Install Experience...3.0

:-( Being that I’m on 3.0 you should know it didn’t work. I’m looking at an error right now. :-(

“Setup failed to open the Windows image file.”

Why? I would assume it copied it over to Windows.old since I had the ISO extracted to a folder on my desktop. I was so close. It even restarted Windows, booted to Windows Setup, and showed the setup screen with the normal poor graphics due to not all colors being used. :-( I just knew it was going to work.

Well, I guess I’ll move this to my new HD and try from there. Hopefully I get better results so my next post will say something to the effect “Vista Beta 2 is SWEET!” :-)

BTW, for those that think this post should’ve been a dot “release” like most have issues with .Net 3.0 (low blow…I konw; lol; it’s my blog though…nothing anyone can do about either, lol)…this was a marketing decision. ;-)

LMBO! :-) (those from AZGroups.com know what I’m talking about)

I had the same experience. Trid to do a clean install from the CD 32 bit. Got to expanding files and the program locks up. Tried to upgrade…got to the the final stage of install the system rebooted and left me hanging with a black screen with no way to get out except to reboot manually. Tried the upgrade again and it messed up again. Had to reformat my hard drive and restore windows XP from a backup.

Couldn’t even get started with the 64 bit version. It says that my system isn’t compatible. I have a pentium 4, 3 gig processor, 2 gig memory and 250 MB graphics card.

Microsoft has a long way to go for the average user to install this software without help.

I will add the problem even occurs with the DVDs that come directly from Microsoft so it is starting to look like there is something wrong with the image from Microsoft.

Setup failed: on extractioon of the files i reach 15% and get the message that windows failed to extract the neceassairy failes or image corrupted. I get this with the downloaded image + with the DVD i received from Microsoft by mail. PC= asus terminator with PIV 3GH/120 gb hd/1024 MB Ram

That’s pretty interesting Robert. It does seem to point to your computer vs the software (since the DVD has the same issue).

Do you have enough disk space?

Lack of disk space is the problem. Made more free space and it went thru
